Hi everybody,
this is our first post on this blog so I guess is fair to let you know what this is about.
The subject is quite simple and extremely common - our experience with our first baby, from first weeks in mom's tummy until, hopefully first year of life.
Let's start with conception!
There are only two possibilities here: either you plan it or it just happened; in our case we plan it. There is a lot of information on the internet on how difficult is to get pregnant, some say an average of 6 months, others one year. For us it happen quite fast.
First, you have to do some medical analysis just to check that both of you are OK. Most importantly you have to check your RH. If both of you have RH-positive then you are OK. You can read more here, and of course google it.
Once your doctor tells you that you have no problem, you can start the fun part of conceiving.
However, the reality is not as idealistic as in 99,99% of the stories out there. There is quite a small time-window in a month in which a woman can get pregnant, around 4-5 days in a month. There are a lot of websites which can calculate these days for you - here is an example. Because of this you might feel pressure to have to do it then, you might not be in the mood, you simply might not be horny. Don't worry!!! It happened to a lot of (all) people, it happened to us, and it will happen to you.
If you smoke, if you drink, it's not good - you will probably get in the 6 months statistics. We try to live a healthy life and we had no problem in getting pregnant. When we decided to have a baby we where at the end of the fertility period for that month, and we did not get lucky, but next month we did.
What happened next?
Well, nothing actually. we are now at 10 weeks, but I can't really say that something changed significantly so far. We had so far two echographies:
one at 7 weeks and one day:
and one at 9 weeks and four days:
One thing that you should know:
these dates: 9 weeks and 4 days, 7 weeks and 1 day - these are estimates based on the baby's size. Based on this you will get the estimate due date. For us initially was September 24th, but now if September 21st - so expect this.
Another thing: morning sickness. It depends, you might get it, you might not. So far for us it happened only once and we are quite close to the end of first trimester so...
That's it for know! We'll let you know how things are going, and hopefully we'll give you some valuable insights.
Take care!
